RICE is mathematically invalid because the factors are not ratio scale numbers and are thus cannot be used in a valid mathematical expression. The output of the RICE score is meaningless and should be avoided even though it feels like its meaningful. I'm going to write a blog post and put a link to it in this article to show that explicitly. It can be used as a mental model, but not every product decision is covered by reach, impact, effort etc.
